HVEA provides a range of services including design and construction inspection of transportation infrastructure, consulting and construction materials testing services. 

We are seeking Project Engineers (5 – 10 years’ experience) to be based in our Beacon, NY and Chestnut Ridge, NY offices.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: 

• Assists Project Manager with development of project deliverables and provide quality management.
• Develops designs, specifications, plans, and cost estimates for preliminary and final design documents.
• Reviews construction bid documents for QA/QC and ensures compliance with quality standards.
• Provides guidance for assigned engineers and mentoring as needed.
• Review work prepared by junior level engineers and technicians.
• Develops, maintains and updates project budgets and schedules.
• Works directly with clients on a regular basis and delivers superior service.
• Assists Project Manager with maintaining project budget and meeting contract requirements.
• Attends project meetings and makes presentations of specific aspects of engineering assignments.
• Represents firm at conferences, seminars, and industry organizations and events.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field is required.
• 5 -10 years of relevant project design experience in transportation engineering.
• Strong client relationship management expertise.
• Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
• Active in industry organizations.
• Extensive public outreach and community presentation experience.
• Ability to think critically and strategically.
• Experience with the development of contract documents and construction plans and specifications.
• Strong time management skills and attention to project QA/QC.
• Good organization skills and effective problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, set and meet timelines for interim and final deliverable products (i.e., reports, plans and estimates.)
• Ability to direct and coordinate efforts of assigned engineering staff to accomplish workload.

• Preferred Qualifications:

• NYSDOT and/or Locally Administered Federal Aid Project experience preferred.
• Proficiency and experience using MicroStation and In Roads software.

Licenses/Certifications:

• NYS Professional Engineer (PE) License required.
• Valid Class D Driver’s License required.
